Analysis of Locomotive Behavior of Human Sperm
Different from existing sperm tracking algorithms that are largely limited to tracking sperm head only and are only able to track one sperm at a time, this video shows the working of a multisperm tracking algorithm that tracks both sperm heads and low-contrast sperm tails. The tracking results confirm a significant correlation between sperm head velocity and tail beating amplitude, demonstrate, for the first time, that sperms bound to HA generally have a higher velocity (before binding) than those sperms that are not able to bind to HA microdots, and quantitatively reveal that HA-bound sperms' tail beating amplitudes are different among HA-bound sperms. Automated Pick-Place of Silicon Nanowires
Pick-place of single nanowires inside scanning electron microscopes (SEM) is useful for prototyping functional devices and characterizing nanowires' properties. Nanowire pick-place has been typically performed via teleoperation, which is time-consuming and highly skill-dependent. This videos shows an automated approach for the pick-place of single nanowires. Through SEM visual detection and vision-based motion control, the system automatically transferred individual silicon nanowires from their growth substrate to a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) device that characterized the nanowires' electromechanical properties. For details, refer to [J89] on the Publications page.
